Spectrum Sensors and Controls a division of API Technologies in Akron Ohio, has a full time opening for a Sr. Design Engineer. The position designs, develops, evaluates, manages, and implements inertial sensor design from concept to market release. This includes supporting existing designs as well as leading the development for new product designs. The knowledge and understanding required of this position includes:
1. Excellent understanding of both analog and digital circuit design. (minimum 7 years)
2. Background designing sensors, inertial sensors a big plus.
3. Embedded programming experience (minimum 5 years) with experience integrating hardware and software.
4. Excellent C/C++, FPGA, and Assembly language programming experience.
5. Detailed understanding of programming in multi-threaded and real time systems.
6. Excellent debugging skills including familiarity with hardware/software interaction in embedded systems.
7. Experience creating bi-directional interfaces for basic I/O protocols, such as RS-232, RS-484, USB, and Ethernet.
8. Signal analysis and methods such as Kalman filtering, FFT, and DFT.
9. Fixed and floating point DSP hardware and algorithms.
10. A general understanding of physics and translational and rotational kinematics a big plus.
Candidates should have the following additional attributes:
1. Attention to detail.
2. Strong listening and problem solving skills.
3. Strong software development discipline.
4. Ability to be responsible with minimal supervision.
5. Minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
